Open Call Exhibition 2024

Our Open Call Exhibition is back again this year – if you’re interested in submitting your work, please read the guidelines below and get in touch via email if you have any questions.

Submission Information

  • Delivery window: 3rd – 7th June to Headway ArtSpace.
  • Exhibition ends on 29th June 9pm. Artists must arrange with buyers to collect on 1st July between 3pm – 5pm.
  • Artists can apply with one or more artworks but each artwork will be considered individually. Up to 5 pieces (depending on size)
  • Collaborative works are eligible.
  • Artists are asked to donate a small work for the charity auction.
  • A form will be sent on request please fill in all details which will be used for labels etc.,
  • Geographical limits are South East Northumberland (contact us if you have questions around this)
  • No thematic limitations but the work must not be overtly obscene, sexually explicit or otherwise offensive.
  • 16 years old is the minimum age for entrants.
  • Artworks can have been previously exhibited or published.
  • Artistic disciplines include (but not restricted to) works on canvas/ board/ paper/ other supports, mediums such as oil/ acrylic/ collage/ watercolours/ mixed medias, photography, digital art (but no AI assisted art), video art, sculpture, fibre art and installation.
  • No specific size limit but if an intended artwork submission is wider than 250cm please contact us prior to submitting.
  • If a single artwork has numerous elements, that are integral parts of the same artwork such as a diptych it is considered as one.
  • The artists will be contacted by email.
  • Approved artists are required to be personally present during the Preview to sell and introduce their work
  • permission for the posting of artworks on social media and for press publication is automatically granted by an artist when an artwork is submitted.
  • Images of works may be chosen and published on our social medias to promote the exhibition.
  • Please note that we can only post some, not all, artwork submissions on socials.
  • All artworks are hung and curated by the Headway Arts team. Labels provided with info from proforma‚Äôs.
  • All work must be presented framed and mounted.
  • Approved 2D artworks must be appropriately framed/mounted and ready to hang with string, hooks or other hanging fixtures.
  • video artists must have own display equipment
  • All artists that are subsequently approved agree for their work to be photographed and published our printed materials.
  • Exhibited artworks must be for sale. All sales are private transactions between buyer and artists. No arrangements or money is handled by Headway Arts who take no responsibility for the selling process.
  • Artworks that are not collected after 2 weeks are donated by the artist and offered to charity, local hospitals, nursing homes or other care givers.
