D’Oscars 2026

The D’Oscars is an annual red-carpet celebration designed to showcase the cinematic talents of learning disabled and neurodiverse filmmakers.

This year’s D’Oscars Film Festival returns on Thursday 29th October 2026 at the Phoenix Theatre Blyth.

The film categories for D’Oscars 2026 are:

  • Animation
  • Sixty Second Short
  • Documentary
  • Dance
  • Drama

One film will also be awarded Festival Favourite on the night by the audience.

Terms and Conditions

  • We only screen films that are made by, or featuring people who are learning disabled or neurodiverse.
  • Films should be no longer than 20 minutes.
  • Films must be supplied digitally. You can use Google Drive, WeTransfer, Dropbox, or Vimeo. Please ensure you enable downloading of the file. 
  • Accepted film file formats are mp4, avi, mov (h.264).  
  • You must supply the following information alongside each film submitted:
    • Film title
    • Film length
    • Name of organisation/ group or individual submitting
    • A brief description of the film for our festival programme (1 or 2 sentences)
    • Your contact details.
  • You must have written permission to use all music featured in your film.
  • Headway Arts reserves the right to reject or exclude any submission deemed inappropriate.

  • The deadline for submissions is Friday 2nd October 2026 11.59pm.
