Headway ArtSpace Tall Ships Fringe Festival

As part of the North Sea Tall Ships Regatta celebrations we have a weekend of exciting events on offer at Headway ArtSpace, Blyth! Sagas From The Seven Seas

On Saturday 27th August we’d love to invite you along to take part in the carnival parade which takes place just after the Crew Parade at 3pm. Come along to our free Carnival Club workshops on Tuesdays if you’d like to create something for the parade, from fish hats and jellyfish umbrellas to viking ships and giant puppets, there’s all sorts of creations to made and paraded. Friday 26th August

11am – 12 noon: Tall As A Ship
Hat making workshop with artist Allie Walton-Robson creating hats to wear in the parade.

1pm – 2pm: Yachts & Knots
Yarn bombing workshop with Sheila Biggs.

1pm – 3pm: Beside The Seaside with Bill, Reg & Friends
Review with wonderful Blyth singers featuring music on our magnificent Binns Organ, including The Seven Stars Theatre Co’s A Swedish Story told by Friendly Pirates with shadow puppets!

4pm – 6pm: Tales From The Four Winds & Tea Party
with storyteller Gary Cordingley, including afternoon stottie & tea

6.30pm – 8.30pm: The Cornstalkers
A taste of American Bluegrass on fiddle, banjo and mandolin.

Saturday 27th August

11am – 12 noon: Nordic Tales
Magical stories from the lands of our friends across the North Sea with storyteller Gary Cordingley.

12.15pm: Bell & Bullock Circus Theatre with ‘Cabin Fever’
Legends in their own lifeboat bring us their marvellous maritime mayhem.

3pm: The Crew Parade followed closely by Sagas From The Seven Seas
Join us for the Carnival Parade through Blyth town centre.
No tickets necessary. Get in touch with us if you’d like to be part of the parade!

 

6pm – 8pm: Shaw Clark Project and Driven Serious
Shaw Clark Project, Blyth’s own eclectic folk rock duo, followed by
Driven Serious, melodic exciting fun folk punk pirates with energetic guitar & vibrant vocals.

Sunday 28th August

11am – 12 noon: Silk Banners
Have a wander through Keel Row Shopping Centre to see our maritime-themed silk banners made with local people of all ages and abilities.

1pm – 2pm: Seaside Strummers
From the serious to the ridiculous fun Nautical Ukuleles!

4pm – 5pm: Jacqui Jim & Bob
Folk ballads & toe tapping tunes with squeeze box and harmony.

6pm – 8pm: Shaw Clark Project and Tony Bengtsson Trio
Shaw Clark Project, our 21st century Sonny & Cher, followed by
Tony Bengtsson Trio, socially conscious modern Americana/country rock with glorious vocal harmonies.

8.30pm till late: Set the Scene Promotions music event
Music from blues legend Paul Lamb & The King Snakes with support from awesome local lads Clippah and a cracking act Bad Bob Bates.
Tickets cost £8 and a there’s a small number still available from seetickets.com as of 16th August. Tickets for this event are not available on the door.
